Transcoding settings - alby6969 - 2025-05-26 Hi, I set up my Jellyfin server some time ago, and I might have messed with the settings. I am just curious what I should check and uncheck in "enable hardware decoding for" , and a few other options below transcoding. I have an old i9 CPU with Nvidia RTX3070. If anyone can tell me if this looks right? Just follow this chart. I believe AV1 is Intel only. https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-and-decode-gpu-support-matrix-new# RE: Transcoding settings - alby6969 - 2025-05-27 Thanks for that, I think my 3070 can decode AV1 but cannot transcode AV1. That said I do not know what any of this means lol. I wish for the uninformed like myself we can just select my GPU from a drop down menu and load the compatible defaults for that GPU. Also when I select Nvidia NVENC for hardware acceleration, but say I also have an intel CPU, does this mean I can only choose one or the other. If intel can transcode certain things nvidia can't and vice versa, why can't you select to use both depending on the media. Anyway I am a basic user, but just curious ![]() RE: Transcoding settings - alby6969 - 2025-05-27 Also sometimes my jellyfin transcodes or remuxes files instead of playing direct. But according to this https://fullspecs.net/smart-tv/lg/65nano91tna-specifications/ my TV can play the video or audio codecs in this file. But every so often it won't play direct. Is this because my 2020 TV is too old? |
