Swiftfin login on TVOS (Apple TV) - ANZ - 2025-05-31 Hi, I've set up a Jellyfin server on a spare Mac, with the media on an external hard drive. I have the Swiftfin app installed on my Apple TV box. When I go to login to the Jellyfin server on the AppleTV, it detects the Jellyfin server on the Mac and shows the IP address and port. But pressing 'connect' after either selecting the server it found, or manually entering the IP address and port results in no action. There's plenty of space on the screen for the developers to display instructions of how to connect to the server and then sign in with username and password, but no guidance is presented. Grateful for: (a) anyone's advice on how to get connected and signed in; and (b) the developers adding instructions on connection and sign in to this screen for future builds. Thanks Andrew RE: Swiftfin login on TVOS (Apple TV) - ANZ - 2025-06-01 If this is explained in the documentation somewhere, I'd be grateful for a link. RE: Swiftfin login on TVOS (Apple TV) - BaconatorWithFries27 - 2025-07-02 I usually just manually enter the url/ip in the url bar and that works for me. I rememeber having trouble with that on my AppleTV. The swiftfin release for tvOS is a little behind per this thread on github: https://github.com/jellyfin/Swiftfin/discussions/1294 RE: Swiftfin login on TVOS (Apple TV) - ANZ - 2025-07-20 Thanks. I tried and tried with putting in the http:// before the IP address, and this didn't work. IIRC what eventually worked was putting in http:// and then the bonjour machine name: Andrews-iMac.local - only then did it prompt me for username and password. An explanation on how to do this in the login screen for the Swiftfin app on TVOS would be much appreciated, I'm sure, by many new users. |
