Adding music - bobrap - 2025-06-02
When adding music from two different sources (ex. C:\music\albums C:\music\best of), with different names, why are the albums all combined from both sources? Is there a setting I'm missing? Doesn't work this way with TV or movies. Thanks

It's likely a metadata issue. For the 'Best Of' album, use MP3tag to check the metadata and ensure it doesn’t match the original album. If the metadata is the same, that could be why the tracks are being grouped together.

Well, that doesn't appear to be it. I'm beginning to believe music sources can't be separated. Emby seems to do the same thing.

I use Plex for my music collection as it works better e,g metadata & Jellyfin for all my other media

^ I agree about using a different system for music. Not Plex though for me. Instead I use Airsonic Advanced for music. It uses metadata of course, but also separate libraries; which is exactly what I want from a music server. I have numerous libraries e.g. Lossy, lossless, HD, MQA, family members etc. and Airsonic Advanced is a perfect music server for this. I have it running in Docker and is simple to get running, even on a lowly Raspberry Pi. Client wise, there are many to choose from but I mainly use DSub which works well with Android Auto too - to access my music remotely from my car. I've tried JF for music and I didn't get on with it all and as good as it is for video content I find a dedicated music server a much better choice.
