Jellyfin Alexa skill worth it? - stevetb77 - 2025-06-05
Hello! New to Jellyfin, trying it out to see what replaces Plex for me - this or Emby.
I see there is a self-hosted Alexa skill I can use if I can manage to get it all working...
Is it worth it?
The Plex Alexa skill was far from perfect, so I'm not expecting perfection.
I'm curious, if I have the skill play a song will the devices in a speaker group all play it too?
(That's how the Plex skill behaved)

Just noticed this post.
I recently tried the Jellyfin Alexa Skill and found it was complex to set up, and didn't exactly work very well.
It might be that i over looked something or my particular server might be missing something meta data wise, looking into it I couldn't find any body able to help me with using it. Since the repository seems to have not been updated in several years I just assumed it was abandoned and wrote my own skill instead.
Happy to share my skill if you are interested still.
