Subtitles not showing when streaming via browser - SprunkiRetake - 2025-06-17
Hi everyone,
I'm using Jellyfin to stream movies from my home server, but recently I've encountered a rather annoying error: when watching via browser (Chrome and Firefox both have this problem), the subtitles don't show up even though they're enabled and the subtitle file is definitely in the folder. I've tried changing the format from .srt to .ass, and even embedded subtitles, but it still doesn't fix it. Has anyone encountered this error and found a way to fix it?

Can you please provide logs? Upload them to a pastebin site like privatebin.net. Both the Jellyfin and ffmpeg logs, you can find them in Dashboard > Logs. Recreate the issue, then grab those logs.
