Album genre(s) - BezelFolf - 2025-06-17 Morning - first post, so I thought I'd better not be contentious, and just ask a question ! ![]() It's about albums, and around how the genres are determined/set. I'd added my (admittedly small compared to some) collection of around 600 albums onto JF, assiduously setting the album genres on the album page. However, I later noticed (later, because I dodn't notice the option existed to begin with !) that they didn't all show up correctly when searching via the "genre" option. I fiddled around with the settings a bit, and even tried changing the album genre to see if it made any difference - but no luck. Then, I happened to come across a forum post about an issue (I can't remember what) which mentioned that album genre(s) are actually set depending on the genre(s) of the constituent songs... So, a couple of questions: 1. Is this true ? 2. If that's the case, why can the genre(s) be specified on the album metadata page if it's not used properly ? 3. Is there any way to update the album genres correctly, other than going back through around 4.5k individual tracks. setting those correctly, and then (presumably) doing a library scan ? I'm obviously hoping for a short cut, but I'm enough of a realist to accept that there may not be one ! Kind Regards |
