No subtitle button? - shadowwizard - 2025-06-20 I, like many people now, am looking to switch over to jellyfin.. But I think I found a deal breaker, but can't believe this isn't easily possible. So here I am. When I used plex, when I wanted subtitles, I just selected the subtitles option when the show was paused. I could either get it to download subtitles, or enable the ones built into the video stream. This important feature seems to be missing. I did add the opensubtitle plugin, thinking that may solve it. Created an account, logged in. It says I can download 20 subtitles a day, but there is still not subtitle button that I can see then playing a show. I use a GoogleTV as my primary viewing device. Any help would be appreciated. RE: No subtitle button? - pxr5 - 2025-06-20 Is there not a little CC button at the bottom? RE: No subtitle button? - shadowwizard - 2025-06-20 The button is there only if I downloads subtitles for the show I am watching before I watch it (Or already in the video file I assume). This is pretty useless/annoying as my main use for the subtitles is to be able to read a bit of dialog I missed because its hard to hear for some reason, leaving me with 1 or 2 options. 1) Before I start the episode, go to a different screen and download the subtitles on the off chance I need them. 2) Stop the show when I need them, navigate around and find then download the subtitles, then continue the show. For comparison, on plex it was: 1) Chick the subtitle button. If none are available it will show you what are downloadable. You select it, it downloads, show continues, without leaving the play screen. Hence why I am sure I am missing something. I know I am not the only one that uses subtitles for when you just miss hearing something. |
