Not identifying TV Seasons - Apollo Grace - 2025-07-12

Hi folks - I'm trying to settle in as a new user. I've got a substantial collection of classic and new Doctor Who episodes; when I first scanned them, it was mixing up the old and new series, even though my top-level names for them were "Doctor Who (1963)" and "Doctor Who (2005)". I added the IMDB ids, and that seems to be sorted; but now it's showing me the show without season identifiers, and in pretty much random order. Here are three seasons:

The numbers on each season indicate that this is a sequence of a 1960s season, a 1980s season, then another 1960s season. I wonder what I'm doing wrong, that the season numbers aren't showing up or being sorted?

My file paths are all of this form:
Doctor Who (1963) [tt0056751]/Season 18/Doctor Who s18e09 Full Circle.avi

And I added the "Doctor Who (1963) [tt0056751]" folder to the newly created media library.

Thanks for any clues more experienced users might be able to provide.
-Apollo

I have my shows setup this way per the documentation, you might try this:

"Movies and show series can be named with a metadata provider ID to improve matching. They can be added to a file name in the following format:
  • [imdbid-tt12345678]
  • [tmdbid-12345]
  • [tvdbid-67890]

The following metadata providers are supported:
IMDb Service (IMDb) [imdbid-ttxxxxxxxx]
TheMovieDB (TMDB) [tmdbid-xxxxxxx]
TheTVDB (TVDB) (Shows Only) [tvdbid-xxxxxxx]"

In your case try the separate folder naming with the service id tag included with the id number:
Doctor Who (1963) [imdbid-tt0056751]

Make sure you aren't adding individual folder paths to the library; there needs to be a parent directory.

Series Library:
Shows\
   Doctor Who (1963)  [tmdbid-121]\
      Season 01\
           S01E01.mkv
      Season 02\
           S02E01.mkv
