Block YouTube (trailers exploit) - ploni - 2025-07-13
JF has parental control features and I let my kids access a carefully curated selection but they can access completely unrestricted YouTube via the trailers button which lets them break out. (I usually rely more on education/communication than on technical controls but my 5 year old has discovered this glitch already).
For now I've blocked the devices at the router but is there any prospect of a fix? I see it can be disabled in the web interface (eg https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-need-help-with-disabling-youtube-trailers?highlight=YouTube%2Btrailer ) but this is for the Android app. I didn't want to report it as a bug in GH as I don't know how it is considered but it feels like an exploit
Eg
- This could be considered a bug in the android app if it allows unrestricted YouTube
- Possibly a option to disable trailers server wide or at account level
