How do I disable trickplay? - phoenixz - 2025-07-25
I want to disable trickplay. It continuously nonstop runs ffmpeg to make new images (I have a large library, ~2500 movies, ~250 series) which is a drain on my server and best of all: Of course it doesn't work anywhere. It doesn't work on my Google TV, it doesn't work on my web browser, it doesn't work on my android phone client either.
So with this being a utterly useless feature, I want to turn it off, but the best part is: There is no off button. None that I found anyway.
So, how can I disable trickplay?

Trickplay is turned on/off specific to a library. In Jellyfin web, under Administration go to "Dashboard". Under "Libraries" click on "Libraries". Find the library that you want to turn off trickplay, and click on the three dots for that library, then "Manage Library". Scroll down to the "Trickplay" section, uncheck "Enable trickplay image extraction" and then click the "ok" button.
