Directplay of Live TV - JojoSox - 2025-07-28
I am currently using an HD homerun prime as my TV tuner in jellyfin. (v10.10.7 in a docker container)
I cannot directplay any live TV, other media works fine. I have tried jellyfin media player on my windows 10 desktop, jellyfin app on android TV, kodi with jellyfin add-on on the xbox.
I believe exoplayer on android has dropped mpeg2 support, so could that be why it's transcoding on my onn pro box? this might be related: https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-live-tv-no-longer-works-on-androidtv-client-without-transcoding with regards to android TV not being able to directplay live TV, but it doesn't explain why it doesn't work on the xbox series X or the windows 10 PC.
I have va-api setup in my jellyfin server settings and I have created a profile without any video transcoding, but the live TV streams fail and end up transcoding.
I attached my ffmpeg probe and it appears to support mpeg2.
I have attached a screenshot of the playback info from jellyfin media player (windows) as well.
Has anyone encountered this?
