Firestick DV HDR black screen workaround - Conduit Calamity - 2025-08-03
I recently found a workaround for the black screen issue with DV profile 8 content that can be done within the Jellyfin firestick app.
In the Jellyfin firestick app, go into settings -> playback -> audio output and change it from "Direct" to "Downmix to stereo." It appears when the Dolby Atmos audio stream is stripped, it will change the video output to HDR10+ and will display correctly.
While ymmv, this appears to be a quick workaround without having to strip the DV stream in the metadata or force a transcode. I do have to turn the audio setting back to direct to be able to display DV profile 5 correctly.
This was tested on a first gen firestick 4k and on display that is capable of both DV and HDR10+.
