iOS Server Address not connecting - rexpapur - 2025-08-03 I've got a jellyfin server on my desktop, running a VPN, and I'm trying to connect to my desktop JF on my iPad at home, same network. I've tried http://10.0.xx.xx:8096 (my IPv4 address per my network connections panel, and the local port on my JF), but I keep getting a "could not connect to server" error. I've tried with my VPN off, VPN on, searching my IPv4 on one of those browser IP finders and using that one, looking up my IPv4 on the command line (provided the same numbers as the network connections panel), what am I doing wrong? RE: iOS Server Address not connecting - rexpapur - 2025-08-17 In case someone in the future comes looking with the same issue: I ended up fixing this with the help of a friend. The solution: Set my home network to a private network. I'm not sure why I had it public before, but when you set your network to 'private' on whatever machine your server is running off of, it makes that machine discoverable to other devices on that network. Set my PC home wifi network settings to private, reloaded JF, et voila, it worked. |
