Dolby Vision not working? maybe? - gaming09 - 2025-08-07 On my PC (running 4080) i cant get dolby vision to work on the native app i have to force transcoding (an option in client settings).                      Emby seems to handle this without an issue on windows  on my phone Zfold5 - i get a blank screen    on androidtv via Sony x80j Plays back fine  on 2017 nvidia shield tv its purple/green on 2019 nvidia shield tv (tube) its purple/green  All using the official apps, i havent tried any of the non official apps (if anyone has suggestions im all ears) Wondering what are my automated options for DV content since the android TV and android native apps don't have the same setting that the windows app does to transcode automagically  Also why cant the windows app play it without transcoding?  i have zero understanding of dolbyvision outside its an hdr competitor?  RE: Dolby Vision not working? maybe? - bitmap - 2025-08-07 My understanding of the different profiles of DV is that they have different layers. I would guess this file does not have HDR fallback, so is being transcoded and tonemapped. The phone might be signaling compatibility, but it's not compatible with P5. The purple/green is the telltale sign of incompatibility with the HDR layers and no fallback data.
