Jellyfin on NAS with data in USB SSD - Natz - 2025-08-11
Hello !
I have a (old) Synology NAS with HDD (no SSD I know...) : globaly everything works fine, but sometime, browsing into the library is verry slow (like 1mn to change page) and sometimes it's OK instantly... the same thing happens when you select a movie/series and you have to load the summary, images, actors, etc.
My NAS have USB 3.0 ports and I'm considering move the Jellyfin DB from my internal HDD to an external SSD in USB : someone as already do that ? Do that help the perf ?

I dont have knowledge about commercial NAS solutions, but i do have a Intel NUC N5105 with a M.2 sata SSD with all the metadata, and all media files are on 4 external harddrives. (I have done so the drives wont spin down, this also improves performance and maby you should check those settings in your NAS' web UI
