Store movie data externally - clark - 2025-08-17

Hi,
is it possible with Jellyfin to store all relevant data, e.g. posters, covers, film descriptions, etc., in the same folder as the film file itself?
This would ensure that all data is retained when changing servers.

Thank you.

On (each) library settings you have the option to store metadata files on media folders.

Thank you.
What about my private films? Can I create the images and descriptions myself?

Thank you.

You can add then to media folder

Example:
Some Movie/
- SomeMovie.mp4
- poster.jpg
- thumb.jpg

Look at the filenames on emby docs https://emby.media/support/articles/Movie-Naming.html#video-images
