STILL no good way to automatically downmix to stereo?? - imagayfurryxd - 2025-08-18 Has there been any effort for Jellyfin to fix its client-side downmixing? Is it something they can even do? Is it something to do with MPV? Windows? I see plenty of posts of people saying it works just fine on Linux using their audio systems.. which makes me think it might be a Windows issue? Or some way something in the stack integrates with Windows? I'm still experiencing content mixed in 5.1 (6 channel) audio to be lacking. Dialogue too quiet, music/action too loud, sometimes even the whole thing is just simply too quiet. Setting my client audio channels to stereo has no effect on whether or not the audio gets transcoded by the server, meaning unless I transcode the video (reducing quality), the audio will continue to be lacking. The ideal situation would be if the Jellyfin client could tell when the streamed content has channels greater than present on the system, and downmix appropriately. Either client or server side.. This has been a major pain point in general for my friends and myself when playing back shows/movies. If anyone has a solution PLEASE let me know! ![]() |
