Server - michaeljr10wv - 2025-08-18
Hi,
Recently installed Jellyfin to replace Plex. Everything works ok, but when I try to open the server to add a new movie or something, I get the player instead of the server setup?
What am I doing wrong?

I installed the server, and I set up the server added my movies ect. Then, when I open it up to add more it displays the player...

What are you "opening up" to add more to?
If you've added movies to a Movies library and TV Shows to a TV shows library you can run scans on all the source locations throug the settings of either library (with an admin account) or through the dashboard-libraries.
You don't need to add individual new items that are located within the library paths you've already established.
If you've created new library paths you want to add to specific libraries then you go through dashboard-libraries and edit the specific library to add the new folder paths.
That's the best advice I can offer given the limited info you provided but hope it helps.

Thank you, like you said, I added the new files to the folder, but when I try to get into the settings to recheck so it will add the new movies, I get the player....now if I uninstall and re-install it works for awhile and its this all over...also I just click on the icon by the clock to open the server...

I'd suggest watching a number of youtube tutorials on setting up your server to get an idea of how things work. That's how I learnt and figured most things out. Haven't experienced anything like you are describing so I'm stumped a to what more help to offer.
