Future Proof config - Yolonero - 2025-08-19 Greetings, I recently set up a Mini PC as a first config for a Jellyfin server as my initial goal was "just something to run my media with low power". (NiPoGi AK1 Plus N100, debian bare metal, 4GB RAM + 4TB SSD. Used what I had laying around) As I fall more and more in the rabbit hole of homelabs and home media servers (+ noticing some limitations on my current setup (like heat, storage, processing while generating trickplays, etc...)). I'm considering upgrading my setup to a more future-proof configuration, while trying to stay as close as possible to a lowpower config. My initial thought was just to go for a motherboard with an integrated N100/N150/N305/etc... to have more storage expansion, cooling,... but I suddenly had this wild thought of "what if I want to encode AV1 ?". So I was wondering if any of you had experience in such setup ? (ARC GPU needed?, etc...) RE: Future Proof config - KodiUser1138 - 2025-08-19 There is no such things as "Future Proof", that's just a lame marketing term, like "New and Improved". Imagine how horribly filthy our mom's washed our clothes to be in the 70's and 80's if every year Tide makes an even BIGGER and MORE ADVANCED breakthrough in CLEANING TECHNOLOGY! But anyways, I asked something similar awhile ago so I will point you to that thread. Gleem what you can and it might better give you an idea of where to take your server build project. https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-new-jf-server-build |
