Unable to disable auto play next episode - notears - 2025-08-22
Hello,
I've been looking around for a solution to this but have had no joy. although it seems a few people have had similar (and sometimes the opposite issue of not being able to autoplay at all)
I am using jellyfin 10.10.7 via docker on an OMV install, and generally all is functional.
I don't want episodes to auto play (although i would like the popup/prompt) and disabled the option "Play next episode automatically" under playback -> advanced. however episodes still continue to autoplay without any prompt.
I watch through my browser using the web interface, but i have the same issue using the android app.
I have tried toggling the setting on and off and then restarting jellyfin but it makes no difference, the settings page shows it's still disabled, and the setting is syncing over to android, yet episodes continue to autoplay without any prompt.
I saw some threads talking about the video player itself being an issue (internal/exoplayer) however this is not something that is an option in my jellyfin server or client area, or at least not that i've found.
even with the option autoplay enabled the popup/prompt that should appear does not.
I can't understand why such a basic option has so many issues around.
if anybody knows what is going on here, or where i can find the option to change the player, or anything else that might allow me to watch just one episode of something, i would be eternally grateful for your knowledges.

I get the same; unchecking 'Play next episode automatically' disables the NextUp dialogue, but does not stop the next episode from actually playing.
