Issue with inputting music - Fr0stByte - 2025-08-29 Hello all, So recently I've been ripping a lot of CDs to my drives, which has been going fairly well; however, I have noticed a few issues arise once the album pops up in jelyfin: 1. the album itself will show as normal, but the title, even though already in the files, will read as something like "Unknown album (2025-08-27 6:16:58 PM)", resulting in me having to use identify and sometimes even manually modifying the album itself, which can be very time-consuming. 2. If the album title is not unknown (and sometimes even if it is), it'll be the first track, which reads as "Track 1", and alongside that, the lyrics will be missing from the entire album which by the looks of it I may have to manually add each one 3. Then we got the Unknown artist predicament, which exists alongside the actual artist of an album. I was assuming at first the unknown artist was for the bonus audio tracks, featured artists, or parts that aren't the actual artist, but no, it's on almost everything, and I can't seem to find a fix or way to remove the unknown artist that doesn't exist 4. This one might be more general, but on the dashboard, where it shows me playing media, there's an i icon that reads "The source file is entirely compatible with this client and the session is receiving the file without modifications." My honest responce to that was HUH? But after further inspection, my best guess is that the media file works fine with the client, which I'm guessing is my device? (pc,nas, etc). And the current jellyfin session is not receiving notifications. As you can most likely tell (especially from the last point), I'm very new to this, but in the process of learning, so feel free to correct me or add in any tips/tricks that could be deemed usefull for the future RE: Issue with inputting music - Fr0stByte - 2025-08-29 wow this is soooo helpfull all 22 ppl who saw this were soooo amazinggggg look at all the answers ill b sure to never do this again wut a waste of time as soon as someone new tries to learn no lets ignore and gatekeep and only help if im versed in python and c++ i was tryna b respectfull n try 2 learn smth new but if this how u gonna b fine ignore me then idc anyways i just wanted some clarification RE: Issue with inputting music - bitmap - 2025-08-30 Not everyone is here to help you. Some are lurking, some are looking for a solution to their own problem. Nobody is treating you any certain way. Take it down a notch. 1. The albums have no metadata. You can identify them using Identify in the kebab menu for the album or you can, as I would recommend, use a tool like MusicBrainz Picard to identify your media and inject metadata prior to importing in Jellyfin. 2. Again, there's no metadata. Jellyfin can't tell what it is. Identifying the album will help, using a specialized tool like MBP will help more. 3. Edit the metadata of the track or album, see what's listed. Remove any incorrect data. 4. Yes, this means there is no transcoding happening because the client is compatible with the media being served. |
