How to change the sequence of playlists? - jellyfin - 2025-09-17
My try to change the XML files for playlists failed miserably and it seems Jellyfin is simply not able to work with them, please see:

But I only wanted to modify the XML files as I see no way to change the sequence in the web UI or the iPad App.
There are buttons for "Move to top" and "Move to bottom" on the items on a playlist, but they simply do not work.
Maybe they do not work because changes to the XML file do not work?
Or is this a different problem?
Anyway, don't you think it should be possible to change the order on playlists?!?
Can it really be that this does not work, maybe never worked and nobody ever noticed or cared?

From my experience, the XML files are merely a reflection of the database records. Changing the XML files will not override what exists in the library.db file.
With that said, I have been able to simply drag-and-drop the two horizontal bars to the left of each song title. There are occasionally some bugs with moving stuff right to the top of the list, but it mostly works.
