Video Transcoding Issues with Jellyfin on Older Intel NUC - g35011 - 2023-10-13 Hello everyone, I'm dealing with an issue with my media setup. I've got Jellyfin running in a Docker container on an older Intel NUC, and I'm trying to avoid transcoding as even with hardware acceleration, it seems my NUC can't keep up. I'm facing problems with my H.264 video files getting transcoded when I stream them to my LG C1 (WebOS). The problem is even worse when streaming to my Android phone, as it causes the app to crash. Here's the video info (Just to clarify, only the video is being converted; subtitles are external, and the audio is being played 'direct'): Video Details
Logs of one of the files being transcoded CPU: Intel® Celeron® Processor J3060 RE: Video Transcoding Issues with Jellyfin on Older Intel NUC - TheDreadPirate - 2023-10-13 What model CPU is in your NUC? Also, your ffmpeg log is truncated. Upload the full log to https://sourceb.in/ and link it back here. Also it is an Intel® Celeron® CPU J3060 RE: Video Transcoding Issues with Jellyfin on Older Intel NUC - TheDreadPirate - 2023-10-13 The documentation doesn't explicitly say that Braswell is supported the Intel media drivers. But try switching your hardware acceleration to Quick Sync. Braswell supposedly supports decoding H264 High 10. BTW, I'm thinking that it is being transcoded because of the High 10 profile/10-bit color. In the main jellyfin log, search for "TranscodeReason". It should tell us why the client wanted this file transcoded. RE: Video Transcoding Issues with Jellyfin on Older Intel NUC - g35011 - 2023-10-13 TranscodeReason=VideoProfileNotSupported I also tried switching to Quick Sync but got a playback error whenever I tried to play the video. This is what I assumed would happen, but worth a try. If you have a beefier PC available, you can re-encode all your High 10 media to use the main profile and 8-bit color. This should avoid transcoding in the future. RE: Video Transcoding Issues with Jellyfin on Older Intel NUC - g35011 - 2023-10-13 ah that's annoying. But thankyou for your help. I can just use my main pc to re-encode. |
