KODI Extras with Jellyfin add-on - Josef Aarskov - 2025-09-29 Hi there, Trying to get the best of both worlds with a Jellyfin server running on a TrueNas 24/7, feeding both Kodi (on a Shield Pro) locally for home cinema use, and eventually streaming to other devices with transcoding and so forth. However, as I'm experimenting with getting everything running, can anyone tell me how you handle extras/special features in Kodi, when using Jellyfin as server backend? When I had my movie library in Kodi with direct links to the media files, I used the Extras add-on for extra material, and Jellyfin pick that up just great. But when seeing the library in Kodi as maintained through Jellyfin, how do I get to Extras? Extras is there in the Kodi context menu, but nothing shows up .... In other words, how can I get to the Extras when looking at the Jellyfin library through Kodi? I could of course use the Jellyfin app for local playback instead of Kodi, but the lackluster skin and fewer video/audio codec playback options are holding me back ... F.e. it seems like refresh rate switching to obtain proper 24p frame rate tampers with the audio, so I get unidentified bitstream in my audio receiver instead of DTS or Atmos ... :-/ RE: KODI Extras with Jellyfin add-on - olevelo - 2025-10-20 Unfortunately there's currently no way to view Extras in Kodi. There's an open feature request (that actually predates Jellyfin) but no one working on it that I can tell. If I can ever find time and figure out enough of both sides of the issue I might take a stab...but I've been saying that for 2 years so I wouldn't wait on me! https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-kodi/issues/787 RE: KODI Extras with Jellyfin add-on - Josef Aarskov - 2025-10-20 Update: I'm now using the Jellycon add-on in Kodi, which does require a slightly different setup with menus in Kodi, but it uses context menu in the movie library, where you can actually access the extras, so for now, I'm happy! |
