iOS Client: MKV files from MakeMKV won't play - infinite loading spinner - Danathar - 2025-10-18 Hello everyone, I'm a brand new Jellyfin user and experiencing playback issues with the iOS Jellyfin client and could use some help troubleshooting. My setup includes Jellyfin server version 10.10.7 in a docker container and the iOS Jellyfin app version 1.7.0.8. My media consists of Bluray rips created with MakeMKV that have been remuxed to mkv format with no transcoding applied. These same files play perfectly in Plex using the identical folder structure. When attempting to play any of these MKV files through the iOS Jellyfin client, the player interface loads but the loading spinner just spins indefinitely and the video never starts playing. I've tried both enabling and disabling hardware encoding in the server settings, but neither configuration resolves the issue. I'm wondering if there are known codec compatibility issues between iOS clients and MakeMKV generated MKV files, and whether I should be checking specific transcoding settings or logs to identify what's failing. Has anyone successfully migrated from Plex to Jellyfin with similar MKV files on iOS and encountered this problem? ![]() thanks! |
