How can I get artwork for my "Collections" ??? - seamus - 2025-10-27

I'm trying to set up the "Collections" feature to help with organization. I stumbled through the interface with some help from documentation and (mostly) forum posts here and on redditt. I selected an option to have Jellyfin "automatically" id and create "Collections" for me. With a few exceptions, that seems to have gone OK except for one thing: ARTWORK/IMAGES

I now have 44 "Collections" in my movie database. Only one of them has any artwork for it: The "Lethal Weapon Collection". And though I've waded through the documentation on this feature, I've been unable to find any guidance on HOW to obtain images for a collection.

The only thing I can even see to TRY is clicking the "triple dot" widget in the LRHC of the "Collection". Just as with "Movies", it provides a dialog which includes "Edit images", but there do not appear to be any images available when I search by clicking the "magnifying glass" icon.

I should probably add this: Most of the "Collections" that Jellyfin has created for me are not actually box sets of CDs/BDs - they are simply individual CDs that I've added piecemeal over time. Here's a sample of what I see:

Thanks,
~S

I would guess that if there are no images displayed in edit images, the plugin is not finding that collection or accessing the database for whatever reason. If you hit the ribbon and hit Identify, does it give anything when you search?

I couldn't figure this out myself and eventually just did the mixed movies and shows library and made my own custom collections. Went to TMDB for a collection and saved their cover as cover.jpg in the folder. It made it a lot easier than having a "Collections" library IMO.

I'm sorry, but I'm just not following you... "plugin", "hit the ribbon"???

Ribbon = the three dots button
Plugin = the bundled TheMovieDB respository that pulls metadata and images for movies, shows, and collections. Unless you are using a different one.

I don't know if it's possible to actually load images for collections unless there are plugins for that. I use theposterdb.com website to find cool looking posters for collections and apply them manually

You may be right. I manually make my collection folders and get images from TMDB. If you search for whatever collection you want, there is usually a TMDB page with that collection that has a bunch of good posters you can choose from. I don't know if using the auto collection maker that Jellyfin has pulls from that or not.  Confounded-face

That's about what I do.  I'll just Google the title and add 'collection' and it usually returns something good.  Sometimes it requires cropping to get the aspect ratio right.  If there are no good ones, I'll just grab an image and photoshop an icon.

As far as I Know you can use several programs to manage your actual media with sonarr and filebot, and automatically rip the artwork and apply it? Correct me if I'm wrong.

How do you "apply them manually"??  Sorry if I'm being thick - I just don't follow your meaning.

Have a main folder named "Space Movies", and then have all the movies inside that folder, and find a cover picture you like. Download the picture, rename it to "cover.jpg" and place it inside the main folder along with all the movies.

At least that's what I do.
