Roku App - cedartruck - 2023-10-18 Hi everyone. New user here. I successfully installed Jellyfin on Ubuntu Server. I downloaded the Jellyfin app on an iPad and tested it. All is good, everything works great on the Jellyfin server side as well as iOS. However, when I tried to download the Jellyfin app on any Roku TV/device. I cannot find it in the Roku store. From the main Jellyfin website ( Roku Version 1.6.4 | Jellyfin), it should be as easy as searching and installing the app. So, trying a different path, I logged into the Roku account on a PC and then navigated to https://channelstore.roku.com/details/592369/jellyfin but it just redirects me to https://channelstore.roku.com/browse. When you search for Jellyfin it returns "Your search did not return any channels.". Searching Google and looking at a cached version of the page, I see where it appeared to be a valid app earlier today: "This is Google's cache of https://channelstore.roku.com/details/cc5e559d08d9ec87c5f30dcebdeebc12/jellyfin. It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on Oct 17, 2023 18:58:19 GMT. The current page could have changed in the meantime." I have searched these forums/Google and found where I can side load it, if I set the Roku in dev mode, but that appears to be a temporary fix as I understand the dev mode will remove the app every 120 days or so. My question is, what am I missing here, is the app no longer valid, or is there a thread that I have not found where this was covered? Thanks in advance for any assistance. RE: Roku App - akilestsar - 2023-10-18 I'm having the same issue, no information online about it. RE: Roku App - neil - 2023-10-18 Looks like there may be a problem with the store listing at the moment - so may not be able to install the app. From the looks of it, existing installs should continue to work right now. RE: Roku App - paulc - 2023-10-18 So far, my Jellyfin channel hasn't been removed my devices. I did get a developer notice on the 16th that stated any of my public apps in the store has to go through the new Fall certification process and all channels must pass Static Analysis with no Errors before they can be published to the Roku Channel Store. This might have something to do with the app being removed. Also, my Roku TVs have Jellyfin version 1.6.6. "Hi Paul. Roku has updated its channel certification criteria as of October 1, 2023. All public channels will be certified against these updated criteria effective immediately — this applies both to new channels and updates to existing channels. Channels currently published in the Roku Channel Store will not be re-certified against these criteria until the next time a channel update is submitted through the Developer Dashboard. For a detailed list of the specific changes being introduced by this latest update, see our developer blog. I don't have any public facing channels, so, only putting out one possibility as to why it may not be in the store today. Also, I have nothing to do with the Jellyfin Roku dev. ~Paul RE: Roku App - cewert - 2023-10-18 For some reason currently unknown to us, our channel was changed to a beta channel which is why it's no longer showing up in the channel store. As a workaround until this gets fixed, the app can still be installed using the roku "vanity" link below. NOTE: Users will get warnings about the app being BETA but it's the same code as our v1.6.6 release. https://my.roku.com/account/add?channel=jellyfin RE: Roku App - cedartruck - 2023-10-18 Thank you everyone for your help! And thank you cewert! Adding the channel via PC worked great to get the app on the Roku TV. RE: Roku App - mongeroid - 2023-10-19 Another confirmation that this works perfectly! Thanks cewert and everyone. Question, once it does get fixed, will the app update automatically, or will we have to remove the "beta" app and install from the store? Thanks! Our app was changed back to "public" and can once again be found on the roku channel store by searching "jellyfin" or using the link in our readme. |
