Library Scan in 10.11.3 on Windows Adds Folders (Albums) but Not Files (Songs) - Beban - 2025-11-18
Description:
After upgrading to Jellyfin 10.11.3 on Windows, library scanning appears to run but only detects folders as albums and does not add any files as songs. The progress bar shows activity, but the result is always 0 songs, even after multiple scans. This happens in both updated installations and clean installs. Downgrading to 10.10.7 resolves the issue, and scanning works normally (detects both albums and songs).
Environment:
- Jellyfin Version: 10.11.3 (tested on clean install and upgrade from 10.10.7)
- Operating System: Windows 10 (build 19045)
- Library Type: Music
- Library Structure: Artist > Year - Album > Files
- Plugins: Tested with Discogs and LrcLib disabled (same behavior)
- Install or update to 10.11.3.
- Add a Music library pointing to a folder with subfolders (artists/albums) containing audio files (MP3, M4A, FLAC).
- Trigger "Scan All Libraries" from the Dashboard.
- Observe the progress bar running, but the library shows albums (from folders) with 0 songs.
Scanning should detect and add both albums (folders) and songs (files), as in 10.10.7.
Actual Behavior:
Scanning detects folders as albums (e.g., 1583 albums for ~1609 album level folders), but 0 songs for ~21722 audio files. Playlist files (m3u) do get scanned.
Logging:
Clean start and scan attempt (debug level enabled). No errors during startup, but no "Processing item" entries for files – scan seems to hang or skip file processing eithout any relevant ERR or WRN logged.
Additional Notes:
- Storage has sufficient space (106.8 GiB free).
- Tested with different library configurations.
- No external metadata downloads seem to occur, as plugins are disabled (and files not scanned anyway).
This issue persists in clean installations, so it's not related to previous data. Any advice or confirmation if this is a known bug in 10.11.3?
