Extended File Caching - besenwesen - 2025-12-04 I have a jellyfin docker container running on a debian 14. Most of my media is stored on a single large HDD. When i am watching a really long movie, the data gets loaded in chunks of an unknown size (at least for me). This results in a lot of spin ups and downs while watching the movie. I don't want a discussion whether to spin down or not. I just want to know, is there a way to tell Jellyfin or the OS to cache the entire file in RAM once accessed (given that RAM usage is no concern)? To take it a step further: When bingewatching a TV-Show, it would be nice to be able to cache the whole season of a show and not the current episode only. Has anyone experience regarding this topic? |
