Transcoding Not Working - no_clue - 2025-12-14
Hi everyone,
I’m running Jellyfin inside a VM with the integrated Intel GPU (12th Gen Intel Core i5-12500T) passed through to the VM. The host is an XCP-ng hypervisor, and the VM is running Ubuntu 24.04. Jellyfin was installed using the official Linux install script from the documentation.
The issue: when I try to play certain files that require transcoding (logs attached for reference), Jellyfin briefly shows the loading spinner for a second or two, then just displays a black screen.
I’ve also tried running Jellyfin as a Docker container on an Ubuntu 24.04 host (also on XCP-ng), and I experience the same problem.
I’ve checked the logs but haven’t found any obvious errors related to VA-API or hardware acceleration. Honestly, I’m not quite sure what to look for or how to proceed from here.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Or could point me towards debugging steps or solutions? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
