IMVDb update wrong release year - vrom1784937 - 2025-12-16

I’m seeing systematic incorrect metadata updates from the IMVDb plugin regarding the release date/year of music videos.
Example:

Code:
<title>Wham! - Wake Me Up Before You Go Go</title>
<year>2017</year>
<premiered>2017-04-02</premiered>
<releasedate>2017-04-02</releasedate>
<imvdbid>265564083899</imvdbid>
<imvdb_slugid>https://imvdb.com/video/wham/wake-me-up-before-you-go-go</imvdb_slugid>

This metadata is incorrect. According to IMVDb itself, the video was released in 1984, which matches the original single release year:

https://imvdb.com/video/wham/wake-me-up-before-you-go-go

What’s more concerning is that this is not an isolated case:
a large number of music videos in my library are being updated with the same year 2017, regardless of the actual historical release date.

Environment
  • Jellyfin version: 10.11.5
  • IMVDb plugin version: 5.0.0.0

Expected behavior
The plugin should use the correct release year as provided by IMVDb (e.g. 1984 in this case), and not overwrite existing metadata with an incorrect default.

Observed behavior
  • year, premiered and releasedate are set to 2017
  • The value appears to be reused across many unrelated videos
  • Existing correct metadata is overwritten

Impact
This breaks chronological sorting, decade-based views, and any library organization relying on correct release dates.
