apprentice dev - devnaut - 2023-10-23 Hi All, I'm trying to pick up anything I can about coding and development but am not interested in lame 'My first project' type projects and would like to work on something I really care about and have ideas for -JF! I have extensive knowledge of hardware, good working knowledge of HTML and CSS and am looking to make inroads to coding and developing. I'm very dedicated and care deeply about the open source ethos. Throughout my life I've taught myself a lot in many areas and love to throw myself in the deep-end. I don't think I'll be contributing anything quality for quite some time.. but I'd like to try. I've have Ubuntu running on bare metal and am trying to get a docker container setup for development. I've been trying to follow the instructions for contributing from the docs, https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/contributing/development which may be out of date, I know no one likes to write the docs . I'm having issues with getting dotnet running in the container, do you guys have a JF image/container that you start from or any tips you could give me? Full disclosure: I don't want to waste anyones time, I'm happy to figure out most things on my own once I've setup the environment. Then I can plod along taking 2 steps back for every step forward until I produce something of value, but have been at this now on a variety of platforms for the past 2 days and can't help but feel I'm missing something. Thank you for any help you can give me RE: disregard - thornbill - 2023-12-08 The point of not allowing deleting threads here is so that other people who have the same question in the future can find answers. Removing the original content of your post is not helpful. RE: apprentice dev - TheDreadPirate - 2023-12-08 Post reverted for posterity. |
