If I'm not mistaken, the android app does not support certain features like theme video backdrops or certain themes as I see display options are limited. Kind of leaves a lot left to desire for the cinema feeling on the app.
Cinema mode is enabled, but I think its just the app itself not working. Works fine on web/jellyfin media player and Xbox Series X. The videos play in the background while browsing.
