Poor audio quality through Jellyfin Media Player - wateryoatmeal - 2023-06-27

Running Jellyfin through my unRaid server and it works perfectly fine. However, any audio I play through the JMP client gets really bad audio quality; it gets real "crackly" and static-y. Seems to happen with all audio codecs. This seems to be a client problem only, as it will play the same file without any issues through VLC, through the phone apps, through TV apps, etc. Everything is direct playing through our local network and I have a fairly nice pair of headphones + dac.

I've tried reinstalling JMP a few times, messed with all the audio settings within the client, and changed windows settings but nothing seems to help. Any ideas on what the cause could be?

I know this is an old post but I had the same problem and couldn't find any answers when I was looking so I'm putting my solutions here for the next person who searches for it.

Option 1:
Go to client settings>audio and set device type to HDMI (regardless of how your device is actually connected)

Option 2
Client settings>audio and check 'Exclusive'

Both of these options worked for me
