Search results limitation - abpjf - 2023-11-09

I replied to this thread @ https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-research-trouble when I found myself suddenly noticing similar behavior on my own server, namely the film "Blade" (or any of its sequels) were seemingly not appearing in search results for "blade"

TLDR, it seems that the desktop (windows pc) client and any browser limits results (for whatever odd reason) to 24 items only, so if what you're looking for happens to be 'beyond' the first 24 results returned, then you can't "find it." No idea what sorting methodology JF uses to order its search results (date added maybe), so it's hit or miss whether you end up noticing it.

the Android client doesn't seem to have this limitation, it shows however many matches there, albeit it does use the same sorting order as with the desktop client results. as in, same order as with the 24 on the desktop client, then it continues with the rest from there on.

is this bug known? and why is there a limitation on the desktop / browser clients anyway? a similar limitation seems to be imposed for the maximum number of items shown for Latest Movies / TV Shows - 16 for those; no similar limitation on the Android client.
