Question about my Jellyfin Server - EZFrag - 2023-06-16 Good Morning. I have Jellyfin running on a computer with a Ryzen 5 with video capability, 32 gb of DDR 4 ram, and a 14 TB HDD. Sometimes some movies doesn't seem to want to play. I'll get an error message. Sometimes if I"m patient, it will finally start streaming. My question is, if I added a video card, would that speed things up? I thought that my proccessor with it's many threads and speed, coupled with 32 gb of ddr ram would make it fast enough to transcode the streams. If you do feel a video card would help, it there one that would work that would be cost effective. I can't afford a 3090. lol Thanks for any advice. RE: Question about my Jellyfin Server - crobibero - 2023-06-16 Did you enable HWA with your processor? I recommend providing ffmpeg logs from the failed playback as they would show what is happening during the transcoding process RE: Question about my Jellyfin Server - Tim - 2023-06-16 I ran Jellyfin on a the lowest end ryzen 5 1st gen and transcoding was pretty quick on 1080p. You might want to share some logs as well so we can see what perhaps causes the errors. RE: Question about my Jellyfin Server - Beardyman - 2023-06-18 This could be in several areas... Are you running Linux, Windows, Docker? Can you read out the system load via Task Manager or nmon? This should give you an idea. Do you stream via wifi? Ethernet? Slow wifi could often provide some delay. If transcoding really is the issue, then the log would show that. For transcoding, I have a 1050 ti running, it can easily handle 10+ HD streams. A card in that range of specs would already do wonders for your live transcoding sessions! RE: Question about my Jellyfin Server - ahhmino - 2023-06-19 For another suggestion on a GPU, I use an intel arc a380 which is $120ish, if you end up going the GPU route, it's a great option RE: Question about my Jellyfin Server - MacTavishAO - 2023-06-19 Which OS is Jellyfin server running on? "Ryzen 5 with video capability" Do you mean it's an APU? |
