Shows Metadata Changes - jibarofoss - 2023-11-13

So I recently lost all of my settings when upgrading to jellyfin-git and I'm rebuilding my libraries. I noticed that some entries are now grouped into folders, with no way to override this. As an example, I'm trying to set up an Anime library. One of the shows that used to be identified correctly with the AniDb plugin was Nadia The Secret of the Blue Water. Now it just shows as a folder, with no option to correctly identify it as a show. How do I fix this?

I think I have a new lead. I set up my regular TV Shows library and noticed this behavior on any shows missing a season directory. So it seems that the git version of Jellyfin now requires a Show>Season>Episode for it to correctly identify the content as a show. If you have it set up as Show>Episodes, it detects them as a folder or worse yet, a movie that has multiple different versions. For instance, one of my animes has 25 episodes. It's been identified as a movie within the Anime libray. It shows 25 versions. Note that my Anime library is not a mixed type library, it is a Shows library.

Was the way metadata was processed changed? This exact format worked perfectly on my previous, stable install. Looks to me that I should give up on the git version and move to a docker version of the stable release then.

regardless of how things "used to be"; that's not how they are now

follow the CURRENT naming conventions https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/shows


personally i have used the current naming for at least 15 years across multiple systems and media scrapers

Major changes to the way metadata is processed is extremely problematic to media servers. It's not currently feasible for me to rename and reorganize my entire media library, even with *arr tools. I'm glad you're following the current naming conventions. I wasn't and jellyfin was working fine for me. If these changes are eventually coming to the mainline release perhaps its time to reevaluate my use of Jellyfin entirely.

I don't appreciate the condescending tone. I have been civil during the entirety of this thread. If you must know, the packages I was using were abandoned, so I moved over to the one of the replacements recommended by the official install guide for my distro. Which was a big mistake, because it completely destroyed my existing install. Hence why I started over.
