How to force Series to use folders as seasons - Stylish Suidae - 2023-11-18

I've got JoJo's Bizarre Adventure on my server, and I'd prefer that it be split up by story arc rather than by season (the first season has two arcs, and the third arc is split up across two seasons). I've got everything in the proper folders, but when I go into a "season" in Jellyfin, it's also adding stuff from other folders  because it's in that number season, so the "season" for the first arc also has all of the episodes of the second arc because, on any source of metadata you can find, season one contains both arcs. And then my folder for the second arc also has the first half of the third, because that's what the metadata says is in season 2.

Is there a way for me to tell Jellyfin "ignore what you find on the metadata sites, only group these by what folder I have them in"?

if you would like a different grouping perhaps then you could make use of "Collections"?
i don't use it in this specific way for Anime that is grouped across seasons however i do use it for my Marvel MCU and my DC Universe so that all the movies are in the same "folder" so to speak

once a collection is created they are easy to append additions to by editing the xml files directly with some sort of text editor
you will see what i mean if you add just a couple episodes then look at the contents, the paths are all that matter

outside of this, i don't know that jellyfin has anything custom enough for the way Anime is

Some metadata sources, TMDB, support story arc ordering.  In Jellyfin, "Edit Metadata" for the show and about halfway down is a "Display order" drop down and Story Arc is one of them.

I'm not exactly sure how the file naming is supposed to work for story arc ordering.
