The infamous 4k playback bug on non-4k Roku devices - KrekSupremacist - 2023-11-21 Hello. This issue is an old one that seemingly keeps getting either forgotten or closed with an incorrect pull request on Github, as in one that doesn't work. What's different this time is that I found out the logs are actually made to be normie-readable. It turns out, Jellyfin actually detects the correct codecs for the TVs, only it refuses to downscale, refusing to acknowledge profile quality settings, which by the way appear to only apply globally. It would seem that this issue should be affecting all devices universally, after all, given that the latter doesn't work. but it is my understanding that other devices/apps allow in-ui resolution switching, whereas the Roku Jellyfin app only allows codec and bitrate customization. RE: The infamous 4k playback bug on non-4k Roku devices - TheDreadPirate - 2023-11-22 I don't have a Roku, but in the Android TV app there is a setting for which device handles scaling, the TV or the device. Does Roku have something similar? It'll be part of the 2.0 release, coming right after the Thanksgiving blackout ends. |
