Should LG Smart TV jellyfin app be able to direct play x265 10bit mkv files? - frosty3908 - 2023-11-25 Haven't had any problems up until now, my raspberry pi 4b+ apparently can't transcode fast enough to keep up but shouldn't the native app be able to direct play anyway? Thanks RE: Should LG Smart TV jellyfin app be able to direct play x265 10bit mkv files? - TheDreadPirate - 2023-11-25 Can you share your server logs and ffmpeg logs? Is your LG TV Android tv or webos? RE: Should LG Smart TV jellyfin app be able to direct play x265 10bit mkv files? - frosty3908 - 2023-11-25 WebOS, is there a particular part of the logs you want or just the whole lot? RE: Should LG Smart TV jellyfin app be able to direct play x265 10bit mkv files? - mattahway - 2023-11-25 Hey Frosty, I've found that WebOS TVs don't natively support direct playback of 10-bit h.265 files. This seems to be a limitation of the TV hardware, as if you use the WebOS built-in DLNA playing you'll notice it won't play 10-bit files either. To get around this I bought a Walmart Onn GoogleTV box and use the GoogleTV Jellyfin client for 10-bit content. It's not as sleek as the Jellyfin web UI and it is a bit of an annoyance having to use two separate apps, but it gets the job done, and I think it was only like $20. It's been a while since I've ran into the issue as I've avoided using 10-bit content, but I can't remember if this just applies to 4K or if it's 1080p as well. I'll just avoid 10bit from now. |
