Adding just trailers to Jellyfin - jonnybarnes - 2023-12-03

I’ve create a “Trailers” library, that I have set to be the content type of Movies.

I want to add trailers I’ve downloaded from https://thedigitaltheatre.com so I can watch them

For example the latest they’ve added is for the upcoming Furiosa film coming out next year.

I have the library set to scan /home/jellyfin/Trailers and the actual trailer is saved at /home/jellyfin/Trailers/Furiosa (2024)/Release Trailer 1-trailer.mkv.

Can’t get it to actually show in Jellyfin, the Trailers library is blank.

Anyone know if you can have trailers for films where you don’t have the tilm itself? The examples in the docs would also have Best_Movie_Ever (2019) - 1080P.mp4 in the folder.

Make sure that jellyfin can read the file. I see that the file is in Jellyfin's home, which I am assuming you manually created since that doesn't exist in a typical setup. If you downloaded the file and created the folder as your user or as root, you would need to change the permissions to allow Jellyfin to read.

The file and directory are both owned by the jellyfin user the server process runs as:

Code:
Permissions Size User    Date Modified  Name
.rw-r--r--  363M jellyfin  3 Dec 19:52  'Release Trailer 1-trailer.mkv'
