Flickering in animated show on TV but not on monitor - maxplosive - 2023-12-09 Hi, Don't know how to describe this issue but I took two videos of the same scene, one with the issue and one without. Here he brings up the knife and it looks fine: IMG_0075 (streamable.com) But in this one the knife shakes/flickers: IMG_0074 (streamable.com) First one is when I play the source on my monitor and the other when I play it on my OLED TV. No transcoding in either sources. Is it a TV setting that is causing this? I've only noticed this issue when watching animated shows. RE: Flickering in animated show on TV but not on monitor - TheDreadPirate - 2023-12-09 90% certain it's just the device struggling to play. I have two TVs with built in Android TV that perform very differently. Both 4K. Especially if I'm using ASS subs. One of them stutters with ASS subs enabled. I don't think there is a way around that. Its one of the reasons we tend to suggest a streaming dongle over using the built in Android TV. RE: Flickering in animated show on TV but not on monitor - maxplosive - 2023-12-09 Yeah not a big fan of the app, I've got transcoding working flawlessly but I still can't enable subtitles half the time. Are there any specific dongles you'd recommend? I have a PS5 but have never tried playing through that since I switched away from Plex RE: Flickering in animated show on TV but not on monitor - TheDreadPirate - 2023-12-09 I like my Chromecast with Google TV 4K. The HD will work equally well and is $20 cheaper if you don't need 4K. Roku owners seem to like their devices with Jellyfin. A friend of mine hasn't had any issues using playing content from my server on their Roku 4K. The Nvidia Shield is good if you have a fancy receiver since it handles audio passthrough better. IMO, stay away from Fire TVs. Their Android OSes are slow to update and Amazon is going to be overhauling their OS in the near future so Jellyfin compatibility is in question on those devices when that does happen. |
