Questions about Custom useage Of Jellyfin - Muther - 2023-12-11
Hello,
I'm new to Jellyfin (about a month now) and want to use it for a specific function. I have amassed a "Video Tutorial Collection" Specifically Guitar lessons. I have been learning and reading and have several questions that I can not find answers for. If I need to ask any of them on a different forum Please Let me know.
First I'll try to Describe what I have done so far, all of the files are .MP4 I have my files structured Like this....
Folder (Guitar Lessons)
Folder1 (artist name)
File 1 (title-artist-track#)
File 2 (title-artist-track#)
File 3 (title-artist-track#)
Folder2 (artist name)
File 1 (title-artist-track#)
File 2 (title-artist-track#)
File 3 (title-artist-track#)
And so on, I set my Library as "Music Videos" and made images for each band and it looks and functions very well on the desktop and phone apps. The Roku app wont display the band images in the right aspect, but I don't think I have any control over this.
Things I have figure out so far is by using the available features, I have added the tuning, style, Difficulty, Instructor and type.
Here are some things I would like to implement if possible.
1.) When I select an artist and enter the folder with the lesson files, It would be cool to see a bio of the band. is there a way to scrape a site for this or do I need to do it manually and or is it even possible? maybe a plugin?
2.) my progress on learning the song, and or notes.
3.) A way to link to an mp3 file of the song, so I can play along with it.
4.) a way to store the lyrics (or link to a text file)
5.) Is it possible for me to change the names of fields (can I change "director" to "instructor")

Just a thought... if you were able to add videos to the music library and the player would play them most of what I want to do would be accomplished. could this be done on the user end or is it a big pain that would need to be done on the programing side of it?

Give the Music Video library type a try.

Yeah That's what I am using. Ive tried it in all of the libraries but none of them work well.
I understand that Movies and TV are the driving force around these programs but with a little bit more flexibility and more custom-ability through skinning, this would be a great way to learn all kinds of things like guitar, tai chi, dancing, exercise videos.....
