Download Media - firas1 - 2023-12-11

Is there a way to download media directly from a Jellyfin server when the Admin disables this? Would be great if there is a way to watch the media while flying and so on

RE: Download Media - TheDreadPirate - 2023-12-11

AFAIK, if the admin disables it there is no way to download media. Even with 3rd party clients. Just tried it with Findroid. The option to download disappears when I disable it in the dashboard.

Ok thats bad Slightly-frowning-face Is there a way to get the video URL so you can load it with apps like Jdownloader?

You can try the "Copy Stream URL" function.

This works, but only when the OP allows downloads on his server. As soon as he disables it, the button for copy the stream URL dissapears.

Question:
Are we still talking about your server?

RE: Download Media - firas1 - 2023-12-13

No, but I tried it with my server too. I am on a shared server where Downloads are disabled but this is a bit of a problem because then I can not download any media for longer flights and so on

so, you're going to plunder someone else's media from their jellyfin server?

RE: Download Media - firas1 - 2023-12-13

How is this plunder media? I have access to watch it all the time but when I am without internet connection then I am not able to watch? Makes no sense to call it plunder when watching it offline?

from my perspective, if you were supposed to be able to download it then the admin would allow you to, if not being enabled was an oversight it would be corrected with a simple contacting of the admin

just because i have access to watch prime video does not mean i can download it because they do not allow that, if i go around them and download it anyway then it is plundered media

none of this is any of my business anyway so who cares, just ask your admin to let you download the files, seems pretty simple and you "seem" to have a legit reason to do so
