one show identified, but the seasons are all messed up - monocle - 2023-12-20

New to Jellyfin and still trying to figure out the tricks to get media to identify correctly.

I have Doctor Who episodes for a few of the original run and all of the new run (the 2005 to now episodes). Because of the very long run, and the interruption in broadcasting, I'm not sure what the format to use.

All of them are identified as old series. How should I be naming them to get them to recognize correctly? As an example, my season 13 "The Flux" episodes are currently stored like this:

Code:
/usb2/shows/doctor-who/doctor-who.2005.s13e01.flux-part-1.mkv
/usb2/shows/doctor-who/doctor-who.2005.s13e02.flux-part-2.mkv
/usb2/shows/doctor-who/doctor-who.2005.s13e03.flux-part-3.mkv
/usb2/shows/doctor-who/doctor-who.2005.s13e04.flux-part-4.mkv
/usb2/shows/doctor-who/doctor-who.2005.s13e05.flux-part-5.mkv
/usb2/shows/doctor-who/doctor-who.2005.s13e06.flux-part-6.mkv

And in the UI, it shows as:

1. Terror of the Zygons (1)
2. Terror of the Zygons (2)
3. Terror of the Zygons (3)
4. Terror of the Zygons (4)
5. Planet of Evil (1)
6. Planet of Evil (2)

All 1975 Tom Baker / Elisabeth Sladen instead of 2021 Jodie Whittaker / Mandip Gill / John Bishop.

Should I offset the seasons for the new version or what?

"Doctor Who (2005)"

Is there a fix that does not involve whitespace in filenames? It's awfully inconvenient for CLI access.

periods can be used in place of spaces (and to the best of my knowledge special characters but not in place of special language characters)

this should work equally as well; "Doctor.Who.2005"

From my experience documented in first post, I don't think that works.

eh, works fine for me

assuming the goal tv show was https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0562992 then jellyfin identified it fine

/Doctor.Who.2005
/Doctor.Who.2005/Doctor.Who.2005.S01E01.mp4

Aha. Renaming the directory to include 2005 has helped enormously. Still some issues, but the majority of the episodes have been identified.
