Help with renaming files. - Ralthor - 2023-12-20 Hi, I'm new to Jellyfin and trying it out as an alternative to Plex. Having issues with scraping some movies. For my movie library each movie is contained in its own folder with folder and file having the same name. My naming strucure for years has been movie (year) (misc info). Jellyfin finds these fine. However where I have a series of movies (Star Trek, Alien, Terminator and so on) I have gone with (year) movie (misc info) so as to list them in order within the associated folders and whilst Plex had no issues with this, Jellyfin apparently can't handle it and refuses to scrape these movies. Just rename the folders/files I hear you say. Well, yes I dont mind doing that and in testing this works. But there are LOTS of files to be renamed! So Im looking for a quick and easy way to go through hundreds and hundrds of files/folders and only change the offending ones to something Jellyfin will recognise or somewthing to make Jellyfin recognise them as they are would be good too! Bonus points if windows still displays them in order of release. Leaving the above in case anyone else finds it useful. Changing from (round) to [square] brackets in the folder name apparently fixes Jellyfin not scraping the movie, but I still have the issue of renaming many files. Still progress is progress. Example of folder/files: -------- Star Trek Cinematic Universe --------------- (1979) Star Trek - The Motion Picture [x265 1080p BluRay] -----------------------------(1979) Star Trek - The Motion Picture [x265 1080p BluRay].mkv --------------- (1982) Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan [x265 1080p BluRay] --------------- (1984) Star Trek III - The Search for Spock [x265 1080p BluRay] etc... RE: Help with renaming files. - tmsrxzar - 2023-12-20 jellyfin uses parent folders to identify, expect it cannot identify "Star Trek Cinematic Universe" what i have done and recommend is having 2 parent folders on the drive then adding each to a source as a separate path ex: Drive1/Movies Drive1/Marvel Drive1/DC then jellyfin has a single source with all 3 paths from there i create custom collections inside jellyfin to re-group them |
