Video Playback Issue - T.S. Vaidyanathan - 2023-12-26
Playback Issues:
- On my Fire Stick 4k Max, certain movies, shows will only play normally, after I skip the first 30 secs. The audio will be fine and if I dont skip at all, the whole movie's audio will be the only media playing. If I skip, the video shows up too. Then if I go back to the beginning, its kinda hit or miss if it works fine. I sometimes just give up and watch from the 30 sec mark.
- Sometimes, movies will keep stuttering, even though it is not transcoding. Then it will say playback error. I then switch over to Plex to watch it.
The server is run off an Ubuntu PC, with a wired gigabyte connection. The Fire Stick is about 10 feet away with one wall in between the router and the stick. I dont think that wifi/internet is the problem. I also have Plex running on the same PC as a backup option if one of the above problems cause enough of a headache that I give up temporarily.

firestick 4k max is starting to have various reports of weak wifi capability; recommend comparing to a wired adapter or limiting bandwidth in the app which will utilize transcoding on the server
