Jellyfin versus Plex on Android for audio playback - rap1958 - 2023-12-27

I am currently using Plex - having switched from WMC a couple of years ago.  Plex Server is running on a Windows machine - where previously I used that server to feed multiple HTPC's using WMC/My Movies.  The Plex movie stuff is generally pretty good, but the music/audio support is poor; in particular support for multi-channel audio-only formats.

So I am looking at other options...

I am currently using two NVidia Shield TV Pro's for clients but with Plex I cannot find a way to do a proper passthrough to an AVR on audio-only formats... typically DTS HDMA files.  I have 3 surround rooms in my home; including a recording studio, home-theatre and living room.

I just don't get why Plex can manage passthrough on DTS HDMA audio/video formats; but not audio-only formats.

I am looking for a solution that does BOTH on an NVidia Shield and a Windows 10/11 HTPC.

If there are surround-audio enthusiasts here, that have a solution via JellyFin, I'm "all ears."  Thanks to all that respond...
