Homonyms - Same names - heurtebise - 2024-01-04

Hiya
Yesterday I've stumbled upon a problem with two different people which carry the exact same name:

Steve McQueen - He is either an -
- Actor - known for "The Great Escape 1963"  - https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000537/
or
- Director - "12 Years a Slave 2013"      -  https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2588606/

But in Jellyfin I can find only one entry and movies from both persons mixed underneath.

I've tried to manually assign the movies to the correct people with theis roles, but was unable to do so:
When I changed the name of the only Steve McQueen (to include his birthyear) I've lost all references to his movies.

Also I could not create a new Steve McQueen and assign the correct movies to him.

How can I solve this issue?

Thanks, -H.

Have you tried manually identifying them?  Not sure if this would help since this would, I'm assuming, change all the mis-matches too.  You would probably need to "add people" in the "Edit Metadata" section of the show/movie.

What I tried was:
a) Remap the existing Steve (US/actor) to the new Steve (UK/director)
b) Added a new Steve (US/actor) to the movies he is appearing with the respective IMDB name-id
but again this resulted in only one Steve in the persons list.
For directors there is no direct "identify" functionality.
Then I created new persons, identified them to the two different imdb-ids, but no success - now all is doubled - see attached screenshot.
Hmm is there no way to edit these entries manually when Jellyfin is not correct?
