I had been using Plex for a very long time but had been searching for an alternative due to privacy concerns. The Plex app is just hateful and buggy to use these days be it mobile, PC, Roku, Amazon Fire TV\Fire Stick. It has gone astray.
The migration to JellyFin was straightforward and it grabbed metadata across all kinds of file types without issue. Appreciate the TMDB integration for tagging files with an ID to pull metadata/art.
The app doesn't hesitate or crash and we watch videos, browse photos, and read eBooks with ease. I got into a spin setting up Live TV but that is on me for having a Hauppauge Tuner. Believe those issues are resolved now using NextPVR & plugin with Schedules Direct. OTA EPG updates were not updating regularly which caused a gap between JellyFin and NextPVR synchronizing tv guide data. I manually updated/synchronized things to ensure the TV Guide had information as needed. Kudos for having other options available to get this information. Schedules Direct seems to go out several days where as the local EPG information was 3 or so hours.
My next step is setting up Internet Radio and dropping iHeart! Looking forward to the next release to read eBooks in dark mode... that is going to absolutely rock.
